A Clinical Observation on the Patients with Gastrointestinal Disturbance

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical observation was done on 151 cases of male and 232 cases of female with the complaints of gastrointestinal disturbance (epigastric pain, heart burn, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal fullness etc.) who had been treated at the outpatient department of Seoul National University from January 1980 to December 1980.
°The following results were obtained.
1) X-ray examination performed on 76 cases showed gastric ulcer on 12 cases of male and 2 cases of female, duodenal ulcer on 5 cases of male, stomach cancer on 6 cases of male and 4 cases of female, within normal limit on 20 cases of male and 27 cases of female.
2) The patients with the complaints of epigastric pain and heart burn (131 male, 210 female) were treated with antacid. Among them 63 cases of male and 78 cases of female were observed for more than 2 weeks. Among the patients with complaint of epigastric pain and heart burn who were treated with antacid for more than 2 weeks, relief of epigastic pain and heart burn were observed on 55 cases of male and 65 cases of female.
